Iowa Men's Basketball Head Coach Ben McCollum and his staff continue trying to replenish their prospect pool following former Head Coach Fran McCaffery's exit.

Following McCaffery's exit, the Iowa program lost every 2025 prospect, including four-star prospects Joshua Lewis and Badara Diakite and three-star prospect Dezmon Briscoe.

The Hawkeyes also lost their only 2026 commitment, Navon Shabazz.

McCollum replenished the 2025 recruiting class with 2025 Iowa Mr. Basketball award winner Trevin Jirak, Tate Sage, Peyton McCollum, and Trey Thompson.

Thompson was initially part of the 2026 recruiting class, but decided to leave school a year early and reclassify to the 2025 class.

The Hawkeyes' 2026 recruiting class and beyond does not have any prospects committed, but McCollum and his staff are trying to change that.

As McCollum works to establish a new culture in Iowa City, he is seeking prospects who align with that culture. After securing Thompson's commitment, McCollum and his staff hope to add more talented prospects to future classes.

One of the talented prospects that Iowa hopes to lock in comes from the 2027 recruiting class.

Cayden Daughtry, a five-foot-eleven, 160-pound guard prospect from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, announced he received an offer from the Iowa program.

Daughtry is a highly coveted guard prospect who has had success on the varsity squad at Calvary Christian High School.

During his freshman season (2024-2025), Daughtry averaged 20.5 points, 3.4 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 1.6 steals per game.

Rivals Industry ranks Daughtry as a four-star prospect, Florida's No. 3 overall prospect (No. 4 point guard), and the No. 24 overall prospect in the 2027 recruiting class.

247 Composite ranks Daughtry as a five-star prospect, Florida's No. 4 overall player (No. 3 point guard), and the No. 19 overall prospect in the 2027 recruiting class.
