The Iowa Hawkeyes Men's Basketball program is still scrambling in the wake of firing Coach Fran McCaffery on March 14. McCaffery was the coach of the Hawkeyes for 15 years.

The Hawkeyes are on the verge of signing a new head coach, as Ben McCollum is reportedly close to signing a deal to move to Iowa City.

Even after the report that McCollum is potentially joining the Hawkeyes, Iowa has lost another recruit after the coaching change.

Dezmon Briscoe, a three-star prospect from Indiana, has decided to re-open his recruiting after Iowa dismissed Fran McCaffery.

Briscoe is a six-foot, eight-inch power forward who excels on both ends of the floor. Briscoe has length and athleticism and uses that to his advantage. He grabs a ton of rebounds and blocks shots at a high level.

With his length, Briscoe is more known for his defense, but has a growing offensive game. In a recent semi-state semifinal game for Crispus Attucks High School, Briscoe had 13 points, 14 rebounds, and nine blocked shots in a 62-55 win.

Briscoe is also attempting to add a consistent three-point shot to his arsenal to be more effective on offense.

Briscoe committed to the Hawkeyes on December 20, 2024, after making an official visit a few months before. He made official visits to the University of Cinncinati and Duquesne University before committing to the Hawkeyes.

Briscoe has stated he remains wide open in the recruiting process and has not ruled out re-committing to the Hawkeyes.

Briscoe is the second Hawkeye prospect to decommit from the program after Fran McCaffery was fired. Four-star prospect Joshua Lewis also decommitted from Iowa on March 17 after McCaffery was dismissed.
