The Iowa Hawkeyes continue to rebuild their roster after the 2024-2025 season. The Hawkeyes had 13 players enter the portal (Cooper Koch withdrew) and three recruits decommitted from the program.
New Iowa Men's Basketball Head Coach Ben McCollum has used the transfer portal to reload the roster. McCollum added five transfers from Drake and has scheduled meetings with top transfer portal targets Alvaro Folgueiras and Duke Brennan.
McCollum also added an elite recruiter, Luke Barnwell, to his coaching staff.
On Friday, McCollum and his staff flipped an in-state recruit from Northern Iowa.

Six-foot-10 big man, Trevin Jirak, announced his commitment to the Hawkeyes on X. Jirak originally committed to the University of Northern Iowa in November before flipping to Iowa.
Before committing to Iowa, Jirak was a star for Des Moines Valley in Des Moines, Iowa. Jirak helped lead the Tigers to three consecutive state titles from 2023 to 2025. During his senior season, Jirak averaged 16.2 points on 59.2 percent shooting from the floor and 38.6 percent from three-point range.
Jirak also averaged 9.4 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 2.1 blocks per game en route to being named the 2025 Iowa Mr. Basketball. Jirak is the first Iowa Mr. Basketball to join the Hawkeyes since Pryce Sandfort in 2023.
Jirak is unranked by 247 Sports and is the first recruit from the 2025 class to commit to Ben McCollum and the Hawkeyes. Iowa previously had 2025 four-star prospects Joshua Lewis and Badara Diakite and 2025 three-star prospect Dezmon Briscoe committed to the program.
All three prospects decommitted after Fran McCaffery was fired last month.
Jirak gives Iowa a solid post presence and adds depth to a depleted roster. McCollum will continue using all his resources to fill the roster before the upcoming season.
