Iowa Men's Basketball has lost another class of 2025 prospect. Four-star prospect Badara Diakite has decommitted from the Hawkeyes after agreeing to join the program last November.

Diakite becomes the third prospect from the 2025 class to decommit from Iowa after Fran McCaffery was fired. Diakite joins fellow 2025 four-star prospect Joshua Lewis and three-star prospect Dezmon Briscoe in decomimtting from the Hawkeyes.

Diakite committed to the Hawkeyes after visiting the program in October 2024.

Diakite is a six-foot-10 center from Kent, Connecticut. He was ranked the no.122 player nationally by On3, and the third-best player from Connecticut in the 2025 class.

Diakite averaged 10 points and five rebounds during his senior season at South Kent High School.

Diakite is considered a versatile big man geared towards the modern game. He can shoot the basketball from three-point range and dribble the ball upcourt. Analysts consider Diakite a positionless player due to his versatility.

While in high school, Diakite also participated in the Pangos All-American Camp in Las Vegas. He was named to the "Cream of the Crop" top 30 roster after his team won the camp championship.

Diakite also competed for Africa in the 2019 Jr. NBA Global Championship in Orlando, Florida

Diakite committed to the Hawkeyes over Boston College, Penn State, and Washington. He cited the Iowa program's constant communication with him, and Fran McCaffery's ability to see his basketball skills.

New Iowa Head Coach Ben McCollum now has zero high school recruits from the 2025 class as he continues to rebuild the roster. The Hawkeyes have six remaining players on the roster for 2025, including Drake transfer Bennett Stirtz.
