The Hawkeyes were flying high heading into a three-game weekend series against the Michigan Wolverines in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Iowa attempted to retain sole possession of first place in the Big Ten and win its seventh consecutive series.
The Hawkeyes jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in game one on April 18. Iowa had ace Cade Obermueller on the mound, fresh off his second-straight complete game. He would struggle to find his command in last Friday's game.
Oberueller gave up one run in the bottom of the second inning and four in the bottom of the fourth inning before being pulled from the game. The Hawkeyes' bats came alive and tacked on three more runs to win the game 6-5.
In game two on Saturday, Michigan jumped out to an early 1-0 in the first inning. Iowa's offense tacked on one run in the fourth and two in the fifth to take a 3-1 lead.
The Iowa pitching staff held the lead for the remainder of the game, and the Hawkeyes won 3-2 to clinch their seventh straight series win.
In game three on Sunday, the Hawkeyes used great pitching and a huge ninth inning to win 7-4 in the series finale. Miles Risley was a star on offense and defense, going 2 for 3 from the plate with a double and three runs batted in, and stole a home run on a great catch in the outfield.
Reece Beuter also pitched six solid innings, striking out a career-high eight and giving up one run.
Football adds two players from the transfer portal

Spring practices are in full swing as the Hawkeyes prepare for the 2025-2026 season. After the spring transfer portal window opened, Iowa added two players from the portal.

On April 18, the Hawkeyes added six-foot-five, 315-pound lineman Bryce George to the squad for next season. George joins the Hawkeyes after meeting with the program early last week.
Before joining the Hawkeyes, George was integral to the success of Division II Ferris State. He helped lead the Bulldogs to three Division II National Championships. In three seasons with Ferris State, George made 41 appearances.
On3 Sports ranked George as a three-star transfer and the No. 39 offensive lineman (No. 544 overall) in the transfer portal.

In a move you do not see every day, the Hawkeyes added long snapper Bryant Worrell from the transfer portal. Worrell joins the Hawkeyes after spending last season at Boston College. Worrell made 13 starts at long snapper for the Golden Eagles last season.
Before committing to Boston College, Worrell began his career with FCS level Old Dominion for one season and Division II Emory & Henry College for two seasons. In two seasons for Emory & Henry, he made 14 starts at long snapper.
Worrell was ranked a five-star snapper and the No. 11 overall long snapper in the 2020 recruiting class.

Iowa Men's Basketball Head Coach Ben McCollum continues to retool the Iowa roster after taking the position at the end of March. McCollum has relied on the transfer portal to accomplish that task. He added five former Drake players, and Brendan Hausen from Kansas State.
On April 20, McCollum picked up a huge addition for the Iowa program. Six-foot-nine, sharpshooting forward Alvaro Folgueiras committed to the Hawkeyes after spending two seasons with Robert Morris.
Last season for the Colonials, Folgueiras was named the Horizon League Player of the Year, averaging 14.1 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game. Folgueiras also shot 54.8 percent from the field, 41.3 percent from three-point range, and 78.4 percent from the free throw line.
247 Sports ranked Folgueiras as a four-star transfer and the No. 8 power forward (No. 50 overall) in the transfer portal.
