After bashing the Bradley Braves 12-5 on Wednesday, the Hawkeyes looked to stay hot in a weekend series against the Michigan Wolverines. On Friday, Iowa traveled to Ann Arbor, Michigan, to start its series against the Wolverines.
The Hawkeyes entered the weekend on a hot streak, winning six straight Big Ten Conference series. Iowa took care of business at home against Nebraska and looked to carry that momentum into a tough weekend series on the road.

Cade Obermueller took the mound for the Hawkeyes in game one of the series. Obermueller has been fantastic for the Hawkeyes and is coming off two straight complete-game performances. Obermueller would struggle to find his command in this outing.
Iowa would jump on the Wolverines early, scoring 3 runs in the first three innings. The Wolverines would respond in the second inning by tacking on one run. The Hawkeyes would hold a 3-1 lead going into the fourth inning when the wheels would come off for Obermueller.
He gave up four runs in the fourth inning and was replaced by Daniel Wright. Wright and two other Iowa pitchers shut down the Wolverines' offense for the remainder of the game.
The Hawkeyes responded, adding one run in the fifth and sixth innings, to take the 6-5 victory. Ben Wilmes and Miles Risley led the way for the Hawkeyes offensively, going 3 for 5 and knocking in two runs.

After dropping a close contest in game one, Michigan looked to respond in game two. The Wolverines jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after a solo home run in the bottom of the first inning. They held the lead until the fourth inning.
Iowa tied the game in the top of the fourth inning on a sacrifice fly. The Hawkeyes would plate two more runs in the top of the fifth inning on a run-scoring sacrifice bunt and a run-scoring single. They would hold the 3-1 lead until the eighth inning.
In the bottom of the eighth inning, the Wolverines would cut the lead to 3-2 on a sacrifice fly. Chas Wheatley would shut the door in the ninth inning to earn the save and give Iowa the win. The win guaranteed Iowa's seventh consecutive series win.
Aaron Savary picked up the win for the Hawkeyes, pitching seven innings and giving up one run on five hits. He also struck out seven batters.
Michigan out-hit the Hawkeyes 9-6, but could not secure the win. The Hawkeyes (26-11, 16-4 Big Ten) remain first in the Big Ten standings.
The Hawkeyes and Wolverines wrap up their series on Sunday at noon Central Time from Ray Fisher Stadium in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
