Iowa's 2027 recruiting class has been steadily growing since the end of the 2025 season, thanks to multiple prospects committing in a short period of time.

Over the past few weeks, Iowa has earned four commitments from 2027 prospects, including safety/wide receiver Jake Theis, offensive tackle Reilly Newman, offensive tackle Nate Brenneman, and defensive lineman Tommy Riordan.

These four commitments vaulted Iowa's 2027 recruiting class ranking into the top 25 nationally (No. 25 overall) and top 10 in the Big Ten conference (No. 9 overall). There is still plenty of work to be done on the recruiting trail before next season, and Phil Parker and the program keep pushing to add more talent to the class

Iowa offered intriguing defensive back prospect Knyair Crumb

Phil Parker's reputation for developing underrecruited prospects is well-documented, and he is at it again after offering an under-the-radar safety prospect.

2027 prospect Knyair Crumb announced on social media that he received an offer from the Iowa program after speaking with Parker.

Crumb currently plays for DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsville, MD, and he looks more like a wide receiver than a defensive back on tape.

Crumb has incredible speed and hands for a defensive back, showcasing his ability to go up and get the ball wherever it is thrown.

He also has great reflexes and instincts in the secondary, breaking on the ball in a flash.

Crumb also displayed his ability to get downhill into the box and help in the run game, something the Iowa defense values extremely highly.

247Sports currently ranks Crumb as a three-star prospect, Maryland's No. 16 overall prospect, and the No. 60 safety prospect in the 2027 recruiting class. 247Sports composite also ranked him the No. 539 overall prospect in the class.
