Football never sleeps, especially on the recruiting trail.

The Hawkeyes recently began spring practices at the end of March and are already looking ahead to the program's future.

Iowa had a solid season last year, esepcially on defense, which is nothing new for the squad under Phil Parker. Parker had his sqaud locked in once again, but it's never too early to look ahead.

As Iowa ramps up practices, they got some great news from the recruiting trail after a versatile two-way star announced he is headed to Iowa City.

2027 two-way star Jake Theis committed to Iowa

With Parker at the helm, the Hawkeyes love recruiting versatile players who can play multiple positions and be moved all over the field.

The defense has that in Zach Lutmer this season, and Parker just found another one in the 2027 recruiting class.

2027 prospect Jake Theis announced he is joining the Hawkeyes in the 2027 recruiting class. Theis, an Oak Park, Illinois, native, does a little bit of everything for Fenwick High School and is a two-way star for the Friars.

Theis helped Fenwick win a state title last season against extremely tough competition, and he will be joining Phil Parker's defense in 2027.

Theis had multiple other offers on the table, including one from Illinois, but he was impressed by Kirk Ferentz and the Iowa program.

He told Ferentz that he "loved everything about Iowa," and he feels like Iowa is the place he is supposed to be.

Rivals ranks Theis as a high three-star prospect, Illinois' No. 26 overall prospect, and the No. 59 safety prospect in the 2027 recruiting class.
