It has been a busy few weeks for the Iowa Women's Basketball program.

As the squad continues to prepare for the 2025-2026 season, they hit a massive home run on the recruiting trail.

Five-star 2026 forward prospect McKenna Woliczko committed to the Hawkeye program last week, following a lengthy recruitment process.

Woliczko (No. 6 overall) is the highest-ranked Iowa recruit to join the program since Caitlin Clark (No. 4 overall) in 2020.

Head Coach Jan Jensen and the squad were taking pictures for media day when Woliczko FaceTimed the group to ask if the No. 20 would be available next season.

When everyone realized what she was saying, they leaped for joy as Woliczko had already made a big impact on the team and coaching staff.

The program also revealed its television schedule for next season, including six nationally televised games.

Before the season begins, the Hawkeyes are also receiving some love in preseason rankings list, with a major media outlet placing the squad in their preseason top 25 rankings.

ESPN has Iowa ranked No. 20 in the preseason top 25 rankings as the expectations for the program continue to grow.

The Hawkeyes did lose their top scorer and assist leader from last season, Lucy Olsen (17.6 points, 5.1 assists per game), but added some key transfers and recruits.

The program added talented 2025 prospects Addie Deal (No. 9 overall), Layla Hays (No. 65 overall), and Journey Houston (No. 88 overall), alongside transfers Chazadi "Chit-Chat" Wright and Emely Rodriguez.

Iowa did lose multiple key players, but added even more to create a well-rounded roster for next season. If the Hawkeyes can take the next step in Jensen's second season and get quality production from their talented freshmen, they will be tough to beat this season.
