The Iowa Women's Basketball program had a quiet summer until Wednesday.

Head Coach Jan Jensen and her squad have been diligently preparing for the upcoming 2025-2026 season with summer practices and workouts.

Even with Iowa being extremely active on the recruiting trail, they did not have any commitments in the 2026 class until Wednesday.

Highly coveted five-star prospect McKenna Woliczko stated she would make her college decision on October 1 after narrowing her list to four schools over the summer.

247Sports ranked Woliczko as the No. 6 overall player in the 2026 class, and she is a huge pickup for Jensen and the Iowa program.

Woliczko is the second five-star recruit from California to commit to the Hawkeyes in back-to-back years after Addie Deal committed to the Hawkeyes in the 2025 class.

Woliczko called Jan Jensen on FaceTime to break the news, and the team was present for the call.

During the FaceTime call, Woliczko casually asked if the No. 20 is available, and it took a few minutes for Jensen and the team to realize what she was asking.

After finally realizing what she was asking, Jensen and the players screamed in excitement for their new future teammate and player.

During her official visit in July, Woliczko told On3 Sports that she "fell in love" with Carver-Hawkeye Arena on her first visit, and stated that Iowa has amazing fans.

After a very slow recruiting cylce for the Hawkeyes, it was kicked into high-gear after Woliczko committed to the program.

The squad and coaching staff love her, and Iowa fans will come to love her when she takes the court for the first time in 2026.
