The 2026 recruiting cycle for Iowa Women's Basketball has been slow and steady.

Head Coach Jan Jensen and her staff have been actively recruiting for next year's class, but have not yet added any talent to their roster.

Five-star freshman Addie Deal joined the Hawkeyes squad this season and will be a building block for years to come, but as the 2026 recruiting cycle got deeper into the fall, it was surprising that the Hawkeyes had not signed a single player.

That all changed on Wednesday when one of the top players in the 2026 class committed to the Hawkeye program in what can be called one of the biggest signings in Iowa Women's Basketball history.

2026 five-star forward McKenna Woliczko announced on Wednesday that she was signing with the Hawkeyes after it was announced she would make her decision on October 1.

In mid-June, it was reported that Woliczko narrowed her choices to four, with Iowa making the final list. The other three programs included USC, Ohio State, and South Carolina.

According to Hawkey Insider David Eickholt, when Woliczko visited the program in July, she loved the coaching staff and the players on the team, and could see herself living there one day.

There is no more speculation: Iowa Women's Basketball just added one of the most talented players in the program's history.

247Sports ranked Woliczko as a five-star prospect, California's No. 2 overall prospect, the No. 2 power forward prospect, and the No. 6 overall prospect in the 2026 recruiting class.

According to Brandon Clay, the national director of scouting for women's basketball with 247 Sports, Woliczko is one of the best rebounders in her class and is the type of player you can build a championship squad around.

With Addie Deal already in the fold, Woliczko committing, and Addison Bjorn, the No. 11 overall player in the 2026 class, potentially committing to the program, the future of Iowa Women's Basketball is very bright.
