Despite losing nine players from last season, that doesn't mean the current roster lacks talent.

Jan Jensen and her staff have been picking up the pieces after a heartbreaking double-overtime loss to Virginia in the second round of the NCAA Women's Tournament, including retooling the roster.

The roster dwindled to six players before adding one from the 2026 recruiting class and three from the transfer portal. Of the nine scholarship players currently on the roster, two have achieved a special honor.

Ava Heiden and Dani Carnegie were given a golden opportunity by USA Basketball

Iowa players have been a consistent presence for Team USA, including 2026 commit McKenna Woliczko, former Hawkeye Addie Deal, and Caitlin Clark.

Now a newcomer and a star center are in Phoenix for a USA Basketball showcase.

Georgia transfer Dani Carnegie and junior center Ava Heiden were selected for USA Basketball's 3X Showcase and 3x3 development camp.

The 3x3 development camp takes place from May 5 through 8, before the 3X showcase on May 9 and 10 in Mesa, Arizona.

The development camp will serve as a way for Team USA to evaluate potential selections for future 3x3 national teams and other opportunities.

Carnegie did everything for the Georgia Bulldogs last season, averaging 17.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game, and was named a First-Team All-SEC selection.

Heiden was Iowa's best player during the 2025-2026 season after being limited during her freshman year in 2024. Heiden led the Hawkeyes in points (18.0), blocks (1.3), and field gold percentage (64.1) last season.

Both talented Hawkeyes have a good opportunity to not only showcase their skills, but pickup valuable lessons in a professional environment.
