The transfer portal for women's college basketball opens on April 6, and Jan Jensen and the Hawkeyes have some work to do to rebuild the roster.

After an early exit in the 2026 NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament, the two-seed Hawkeyes were left with a lot of "what-ifs" this season.

The transfer portal is filling up, including three Hawkeyes, as Addie Deal, Callie Levin, and Kennise Johnson all plan to enter the portal when it opens.

With all of the departures from the program, Iowa has eight players on the roster for next season with McKenna Woliczko coming in, and here are five early options for Iowa to puruse before next season:

F Addy Brown - Iowa State

2025-2026 season averages: 11.9 points, 8.8 rebounds, 5.3 assists

Even though the two programs are hate rivals, if the Hawkeyes want to add scoring and leadership to the roster for next season, they should look no further than former Iowa State Cyclone Addy Brown.

Brown's season was limited by injuries this year, and the Cyclones weren't the same when she was off the court.

She is a three-level scorer and high-level rebounder and playmaker that would give the Hawkeyes a great frontcourt duo in Ava Heiden and Brown and Jensen has to make a call to convince her to stay in Iowa next season.

G Jada Williams - Iowa State

2025-2026 season averages: 15.3 points, 3.5 rebounds. 7.7 assists

Yes, we have selected another Iowa State player for Jensen and the Hawkeyes to pursue in the transfer portal.

Guard Jada Williams had a career year for the Cyclones last season, including averaging 7.7 assists per game, ranking third in women's college basketball.

Williams does not provide much long-range shooting, but she brings a veteran presence and is a prolific passer, which the Hawkeyes were lacking last season.

G Lanie Grant - North Carolina

2025-2026 season averages: 10.8 points, 1.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists

North Carolina Tar Heels guard Lanie Grant reclassified to join the program early, making her one of the youngest juniors next season.

Grant is a pure scorer who can fill it up from three-point range, shooting 41.9 percent from deep last season and 38.3 percent for her career.

Grant has extensive Team USA success alongside future Hawkeye McKenna Woliczko, and she would definitely help solve some of Iowa's shooting problems.

G Milan Brown - Wake Forest

2025-2026 season averages: 9.1 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.1 steals

Wake Forest did not have a great season this year, finishing with a 14-18 record, but that did not stop Milan Brown from doing a little bit of everything as a freshman.

With a better supporting cast, Brown's numbers have the potential to increase, and she can step into the role Kylie Feuerbach played for the squad last season.

Brown was a solid defender who shot a high percentage from three-point range last season (42 percent) and was named to the ACC All-Freshmen Team.

G Divine Bourrage - LSU

2025-2026 season averages: 2.1 points, 1.7 rebounds, 0.7 assists

The 2025 Iowa Miss Basketball winner, Divine Bourrage, had a forgettable freshman season for the LSU Tigers in 2025-2026.

Bourrage was the No. 1 recruit from Iowa in the 2025 recruiting class and is a former teammate of current Hawkeye Journey Houston.

Bourrage will be a sophomore next season with plenty of time to develop, and she could thrive alongside her former teammate and back in her home state.

Final analysis

Iowa desperately needs help at the guard position and needs more volume shooting, something each of these options brings.

Jensen and her staff will have to be aggressive, but careful when selecting the right mix of players because seven new players will be challenging to integrate right away.
