After an early exit in the NCAA Tournament, Jan Jensen and company are in full offseason mode.

Iowa was upset in the Round of 32 by 10-seed Virginia in double OT, a heartbreaking end to the season for four Iowa seniors.

Jan Jensen now has the difficult task of replacing seniors Hannah Stuelke, Jada Gyamfi, Kylie Feuerbach, and Taylor McCabe over the summer.

Not only is she replacing them, but transfer Emely Rodriguez is contemplating a leap back into the portal alongside another Hawkeye who recently decided to leave the program for a different opportunity.

Kennise Johnson announced she is entering the transfer portal

The transfer portal gives, and it also takes away. Before last season, Iowa landed Chit-Chat Wright, who became a staple in the lineup, and even though it hasn't worked out yet, Rodriguez showed flashes of what she can do early last season.

Now, just a short time after the end of the season, the Hawkeyes are losing a depth guard to the portal.

According to women's basketball analyst EJ Arrow, junior guard Kennise Johnson announced she is entering the transfer portal.

Johnson, a Joilet, Illinois native, was the No. 3 guard and the No. 13 overall Illinois prospect in the 2023 recruiting class before committing to the Hawkeyes under Lisa Bluder.

After Johnson's departure, Iowa is down to only three guards on the roster, including Chit-Chat Wright, Taylor Stremlow, and Addie Deal.

Iowa's biggest area of concern this offseason is adding more depth at the guard position and a high-volume three-point shooter, and now the depth chart looks even thinner.

Jan Jensen has her work cut out for her before the 2026-2027 season.
