3 players Ben McCollum can save from the transfer portal to boost the roster

The window is closed, but there are still plenty of players who can be added

The transfer portal chaos has officially ended, but that does not mean there is not an opportunity to still bolster the roster before next season.

As of midnight on April 21, the transfer portal window officially closed, but as long as players got their names in before that, they can still transfer wherever they want.

Iowa had a successful transfer portal window, losing only one player (Alvaro Folgueiras) and adding two players, including Ty'Reek Coleman and Andrew McKeever.

With Bennett Stirtz (graduation), Brendan Hausen (graduation), Alvaro Folgueiras (transfer), and potentially Tavion Banks (graduation), Iowa's roster is at 12, leaving three spots open and a potential for more transfer signings.

3 transfers still available that can make an immediate impact

Iowa has a well-rounded roster after its two transfer signings, but it could still use some more guard depth and shooting.

With that in mind, these three available players make sense for Iowa:

Paul McNeil Jr., guard (North Carolina State)

2025-2026 season stats: 13.8 points, 3.6 rebounds, 43.3% FG, 42.7% 3P Transfer rank: 24

If Iowa is looking for a pure-scoring guard option to pair with projected starting point guard Ty'Reek Coleman, NC State transfer Paul McNeil Jr. fits that profile.

McNeil filled it up from everywhere on the court last season, especially from beyond the arc, knocking down an average of three per game at a 42.7 percent clip.

McNeil is also a stellar free-throw shooter, knocking down 81.2 percent during his two-year career. If McCollum wants a high-volume shooter, McNeil should be near the top of the list.

Vyctorius Miller, guard (Oklahoma State)

2025-2026 season stats: 10.8 points, 2.7 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 41.8% FG, 37.5% 3P Transfer rank: 124

Not only do the Hawkeyes need to add transfer guard Vyctorius Miller because of his shooting ability, but also because of his amazing name that Raygun could have a field day with.

Miller knocked down 45 three-pointers last season at a 37.5 percent clip, and could easily give Iowa some solid bench shooting depth behind Coleman and Kael Combs. Miller could also start, notching 26 starts for Oklahoma State last season.

Miller also was a solid defender, averaging 1.1 steals per game.

If the Hawkeyes add Miller, he would most likely be a depth option, but could also start depending on matchups.

Isaiah Elohim, guard (Florida Atlantic)

2025-2026 season stats: 12.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, 46.5% FG, 36.8% 3P Transfer rank: 191

Transfer guard Isaiah Elohim had a significant boost in his numbers last season after transferring to Florida Atlantic from USC.

His points per game increased from 2.1 to 12.4, his rebounds per game increased from 0.8 to 4.2, and his made field goals went from 0.7 to 4.5.

Elohim's greatest strength is his shooting, with a career 47.3 percent from the field and 37.6 percent from beyond the arc.

Elohim can start at the off-guard or come off the bench and give Iowa instant offense.
