After a slow start to the transfer portal window, Ben McCollum just hit two massive home runs in back-to-back days.
Iowa's amazing weekend started with signing talented freshman transfer guard Ty'Reek Coleman to take over as the lead guard.
Luckily for Hawkeye fans, Coleman was just the tip of the iceberg, as the program went out and signed one of the top centers in the transfer portal, someone they have had their eye on for a while.
Iowa signaled they are all in next season after signing transfer center Amdrew McKeever
One of Iowa's biggest weaknesses last season was its lack of size on the glass and on the defensive interior.
McCollum and the program just solved both of those issues with a MASSIVE transfer portal signing.
Saint Mary's transfer Andrew McKeever has committed to Iowa, per @JoeTipton. The 7-foot-3 big man averaged 8.2 points, 9.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game as a redshirt sophomore last season: https://t.co/SqM75wVJHc pic.twitter.com/bBjyuP9SQR

Saint Mary's transfer center Andrew McKeever is now a Hawkeye after leading the WCC in rebounds with 9.2 per game last season.
After teasing a move to Iowa City, McKeever is officially a Hawkeye and checks a lot of boxes for the program
McKeever's size and length are huge assets for the Hawkeyes, who were in desperate need of both last season. He did not block many shots last season (averaged 0.8 per game), but if he can hold his ground and alter shots, Iowa's defense will be that much better.
McKeever also showed the ability to be effective in the pick-and-roll, something that is essential in Ben McCollum's offense.
What McKeever's signing means for the Hawkeyes
Even though he put up massive rebounding numbers, the WCC is not a Power Four conference, and his abilities on the glass and on defense will be tested in the much tougher Big Ten Conference next season.
Any offense McKeever gives Iowa will be a bonus, but averaging only 8.2 points per game as a seven-footer is slightly concerning.
There is no doubt McCollum will get the best out of McKeever on both ends of the court, and with the high importance he places on defense, McKeever could be just what the doctor ordered for the Hawkeyes.
With McKeever now on board, it presumably moves Cam Manyawu to the bench as a backup and Trevin Jirak to a more reserve depth role, giving him time to develop.
Howver you slice it, McKeever is a great signing and should make an immediate impact next season.
