The Iowa Football program has been affectionately dubbed "Tight End U" following all the successful NFL tight ends the program has produced.

Another area where the Hawkeye program excels is producing high-quality offensive linemen with Head Coach Kirk Ferentz at the helm.

Ferentz began his coaching career at Iowa as the offensive line coach from 1981 to 1989 and was also an offensive line coach at the NFL level from 1993 to 1998.

The Hawkeyes have had multiple offensive linemen succeed in the NFL, including Tristan Wirfs, Tyler Linderbaum, and recently retired Brandon Scherff.

The Hawkeyes have a solid duo of Logan Jones and Gennings Dunker as projected starters for the offensive line unit this season, and one of the two has been named as one of the "freakiest" athletes in college football.

In a fun preseason rankings list, The Athletic's Bruce Feldman released his list of the top "freakiest" athletes in college football ahead of next season.

Feldman ranked Iowa center Logan Jones as the No. 7 "freakiest" athlete of 2025.

After playing as a defensive lineman for Lewis Central High School in Council Bluffs, Iowa, Jones has become one of the best offensive lineman in college football.

He has racked up multiple preseason award watch list nominations, including nominations for the Outland Trophy, Rimington Trophy, and the Lombardi Award.

Jones has also been named a preseason Third Team All-American by Athlon and Phil Steele, and a preseason Second Team All-American by Walter Camp.

Jone will undoubtedly be the anchor for the Iowa offensive line this season as they look to improve on last season and protect new quarterback Mark Gronowski.
