Iowa Men's Basketball continues to navigate the offseason as a new team. The Hawkeyes have two returning players (Cooper Koch and Jacob Koch); everyone else is a new addition.
Six former Drake players, including 2024 Missouri Conference Player of the Year Bennett Stirtz, Alvaro Folgueiras (Robert Morris), and Brendan Hausen (Kansas State) joined from the transfer portal.
The Hawkeyes also added Trevin Jirak, Tate Sage, and Peyton McCollum from the 2025 recruiting class.
Head Coach Ben McCollum has rebuilt the roster from the ground up and aims to succeed in his first season with the Hawkeyes.
On Friday, college athletics received another wrinkle: revenue-sharing programs. Judge Claudia Wilken approved the House v. NCAA settlement, allowing schools to pay athletes directly from a $20.5 million revenue-sharing pool.
In preparation for the July 1 deadline to start paying athletes directly, Iowa Men's Basketball formed "Flight Funds" to boost funds from outside sources.
"Flight Funds" gives donors a "charitable avenue" to provide funds directly to programs or a general fund.
While navigating the new landscape of college sports, the new-look Iowa squad is trying to gel as a team.
The Hawkeyes were seen building camaraderie and working on their golf swings at PinSeekers in Tiffin. The squad also began on-court practices and workouts in preparation for the 2025-2026 season.
On Tuesday, the Hawkeyes chose their new jersey numbers for the upcoming season.

Over the past few weeks, the Hawkeyes have taken the court, hit the weight room, and picked new numbers for the upcoming season. Iowa will have to gel quickly on and off the court to succeed in their first season under new Head Coach Ben McCollum.
