Offensive lineman Kade Pieper definitely took advantage of his playing time during his first year as a starter.

Pieper helped anchor an offensive line unit that earned the Joe Moore Award, given to the best offensive line in college football.

Pieper began last season as an afterthought, with seniors Logan Jones, Gennings Dunker, and Beau Stephens being the focal points.

It was rinse and repeat for the offensive line last season, but now Pieper will be tasked with being one of the leaders.

Before the 2026 season even begins, Pieper is already garnering media attention for his potential next season.

Piper was named a "way-too-early" All-American selection by ESPN

Pieper is a versatile offensive lineman who excels at the guard position, and there are rumors that he will take snaps at center during the spring.

The Hawkeyes are losing senior center Logan Jones to graduation, creating a big hole in the center of the offensive line.

If Pieper proves he can be effective at the center position, it will not only help his draft stock but also almost assuredly lock up his second straight All-American selection.

Regardless of where he lines up next season, ESPN is confident he will succeed, naming him a "way-too-early" All-American selection.

ESPN gave him the nod at center over Sheridan Wilson (Texas Tech) and Drew Bobo (Georgia), showing how much they value Pieper at the center spot.

ESPN loves Pieper's size and strength, noting that he is a two-time winner of the Solon Beef Days hay bail toss. Shout out, Solon!

It doesn't matter where Pieper plays next season, and as long as he's healthy, the offensive line will be in good hands.
