After narrowly missing out last season, the Iowa offensive line has finally received the recognition it deserves.

The Iowa offense leaned on the offensive line again this season after it was apparent early on that the passing attack was going to struggle.

Something didn't click for transfer quarterback Mark Gronowski and the receivers this season, but the offensive line was rock-solid all season.

Under Kirk Ferentz, Iowa Football has always been known as a run-first program, and that did not change this season.

The Hawkeye offense rushed for 177.8 yards per game during the regular season, which ranked No. 45 overall in college football.

A new wrinkle to the Iowa offense this season was Gronowski's ability to use his legs to extend plays in the passing game or in designed runs, but the overall success is due to the offensive line.

Two of Iowa's three All-Americans, Beau Stephens and Logan Jones, were anchors on the offensive line, and now the unit has been named the best overall unit in college football.

The Iowa offensive line was presented with the Joe Moore Award, which is given annually to the best offensive line unit in college football.

The Hawkeyes earned the award this season after finishing as semifinalists last season.

Aaron Taylor, a CBS Sports analyst and founder of the Joe Moore Award, said that the "ability to play steady, disciplined football with an edge week after week is what separated them from the rest of the pack."

Beau Stephens, Kade Pieper, Gennings Dunker, Logan Jones, and Trevor Lauck started all 12 games for the Hawkeyes on the offensive line, helping the offense out-rush opponents in nine of 12 games this season.

The highest rushing total of the season came in Iowa's opening game against Albany (310 yards).

The Joe Moore Award solidifies what Hawkeye fans already knew about the offensive line unit, and now we have undeniable proof that the unit is the best unit in college football.
