With legendary former Head Coach Lisa Bluder on the call for the Big Ten Network, Iowa Women's Basketball had another dominating performance at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
It was a night full of connections between the Iowa program and the Drake program as the two programs battled for the 57th time in the storied in-state rivalry.
The Hawkeyes (3-0, 0-0 Big Ten) came out hot on both ends of the court, especially on offense. After putting up a program record 119 points against Evansville in the last game, Iowa continued its hot shooting against Drake.
At one point in the first half, the Hawkeyes went on a 25-0 scoring run, and put the game out of reach.
Iowa not only shot the basketball well, but they also clamped down on the Drake Bulldogs' offense, holding them to only 58 points and forcing 20 turnovers.
For the second straight game, Iowa put up 100-plus points, beating Drake 100-58 in another dominating display.
Iowa had another offensive explosion
The Hawkeyes earned their third win of the season after putting up 100 points on 54 percent shooting from the floor.
Six players for the Hawkeyes scored in double figures, led by Layla Hays' 14-point, 10-rebound double-double.
Ava Heiden (14 points, six rebounds) and Chit-Chat Wright (14 Points, three assists) also added 14 points apiece, with Hannah Stuelke adding 11 points, eight rebounds, and five assists.
Iowa's bench also outscored Drake's bench 40-10.
The defense continues to be a bright spot early on for the Hawkeyes
Iowa is averaging 102 points per game through the first three games, but what is even more impressive is its defensive effort during all three games.
The Hawkeyes' defense has held opponents to 31.5 percent shooting from the field and 28.3 percent from three-point range through the first three games, signaling a more focused effort on defense this season.
Iowa won't continue to put up 100-plus points per game when the Big Ten Conference schedule starts, and when their offense goes cold, they will need to continue their hard work on defense to keep them afloat.
Next game: Sunday, November 16, at Northern Iowa (2:00 p.m. Central Time)
