Lucy Olsen receives more recognition after her only season with the Iowa Hawkeyes

Iowa Women's Basketball senior guard Lucy Olsen was one of the best transfer portal pickups of the 2024-2025 season. After three seasons with Villanova, Olsen joined the Hawkeyes via the transfer portal.

Before joining the Hawkeyes, Olsen averaged 23.3 points (third in the nation) and 4.8 rebounds in 36.2 minutes per game for the Wildcats during her junior season (2023-2024).

Olsen was a leader for the Hawkeyes from the minute she stepped on campus. She averaged a team-leading 17.9 points and 5.1 assists in 34 minutes per game last season. Olsen not only led with her offensive output, but with he hard-work and commitment as well.

Olsen willed the Hawkeyes to multiple wins and carried them through a five-game January losing streak.

On Thursday, Olsen received more recognition after her stellar senior season.

"Big Lu" earned a Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) All-American Honorable Mention after the 2025 season.

The WBCA was founded in 1981 to give resources to women's basketball coaches to make them better leaders, teachers, and mentors for their players.

Olsen is no stranger to winning awards. During her senior season, Olsen was named a unanimous First Team All-Big Ten selection and a First Team All-Big Ten Tournament Team selection.

During her senior season, Olsen eclipsed 2,000 career points, 500 career rebounds, and 500 career assists. This includes scoring 20-plus points in a team-high 12 games this season.

During the 2025 season, Olsen became a fan favorite. Hawkeyes fans shared their love for Olsen after she gave everything she had to the program. Her hard work and determination endeared her to Hawkeye fans nationwide.

Olsen will represent the Hawkeyes one last time as she participates in the 2025 Lilly Women's College All-Star Game at Hillsborough Community College in Tampa Bay, Florida. The game starts at 2:00 p.m. Central Time on April 5 and will air on ESPN 2.
