The pieces are slowing falling into place for Jan Jensen's squad before next season.
With multiple roster spots to fill, Jensen and her staff have been diligently pursuing good potential fits for the program.
After hosting two prospects last weekend, Iowa signed talented guard Dani Carnegie from the portal, giving the squad a high-volume scorer and a good backcourt running mate for Chit-Chat Wright and/or Taylor Stremlow.
Around the same time Carnegie visited Iowa City, Oklahoma State transfer Amari Whiting was also on campus, and she recently shared some great news about her commitment status.
Whiting gives the Hawkeyes a solid two-way player and a veteran presence
Iowa's guard depth took a massive hit after the 2025-2026 season ended, with five guards entering the transfer portal and Kylie Feuerbach and Taylor McCabe graduating.
The program has now gotten two commitments from talented guard transfers, getting them one step closer to filling those roster gaps.

Whiting did a little bit of everything for Oklahoma State last season, starting every game for the Cowgirls, and averaging 9.6 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game.
After joining the Hawkeyes, Whiting will be the only season on the roster, giving the squad a veteran leader who has showcased the ability to take and make smart shots in pressure situations.
Iowa's roster just got a huge boost, now sitting at eight players after just over a week in the transfer portal window.
It will be worth watching how Jensen uses her in the lineup due to her versatility and starting experience. She could easily push Stremlow to the bench, giving Iowa another defender and rebounder in the starting lineup, or she could be a stellar bench option.
After a few bleak moments to start the offseason, Iowa's roster is trending in the right direction, with all eight players able to contribute next year.
