The Iowa Men's Basketball program is staying busy during the offseason. The team continues summer workouts and team-building sessions, with one player heading overseas to participate in a FIBA Basketball tournament.

Iowa forward Alvaro Folgueiras was called up to Spain's Under-20 National Team to compete at FIBA EuroBasket 2025 in Heraklion, Greece.

Through three games of the tournament, Folgueiras is averaging 7.0 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 3.0 assists.

While Folgeuiras is working hard overseas, Iowa Head Coach Ben McCollum and his staff continue to stay active on the recruiting trail. McCollum has focused a majority of his attention on the 2026 recruiting class after losing every prospect after Fran McCaffery was fired.

In June, the Hawkeyes offered the No. 1 Iowa prospect Arafan Diane, and in early July, received the commitment of four-star prospect Trey Thompson.

Thompson was initially part of the 2026 recruiting class but decided to reclassify to the 2025 class so he could join the program immediately.

After Thompson reclassified, the Hawkeyes have no prospects in the 2026 recruiting class. McCollum and his staff are trying to change that by offering another big man in the 2026 class.

Javonte Floyd, a six-foot-nine, 220-pound prospect from Ellenwood, Georgia, announced he has received an offer from the Iowa Men's Basketball program.

Floyd is heading into his senior year at Cedar Grove High School, following a solid junior season in which he averaged nearly 11 points per game for the varsity squad.

Floyd also plays club basketball for the Nightrydas in the EYBL.

247 Sports Composite ranks Floyd as a three-star prospect, Georgia's No. 12 prospect (No. 22 center), and the No. 177 overall prospect in the 2026 recruiting class.

Floyd currently holds offers from Iowa, Oregon State, Penn State, Purdue, SMU, and Tulane
