A HUGE week is looming for Iowa Men's Basketball on the recruiting trail.

Ben McCollum and Co. added a lot of talent to the roster for next season, but are still without a commitment in the 2027 recruiting class.

The program is adding Ethan Harris via the 2026 recruiting class, alongside transfers Ty'Reek Coleman and Andrew McKeever, but the biggest win of the summer could come next weekend when a top Wisconsin prospect announces his destination.

Donovan Davis is just the player Iowa needs to kickstart the 2027 class

After adding Trey Thompson last offseason and 2026 Iowa Mr. Basketball Jaidyn Coon and Ethan Harris this offseason, the Hawkeyes have a talented forward group for the future.

If they want to add another potentially elit forward to the group, they have a week to get it done.

Elite 2027 forward prospect Donovan Davis announced his final five preferred destinations, with the Hawkeyes making the cut. Davis also said he will make his decision on May 6.

Davis is currently ranked as a top-five Wisconsin prospect, and the Iowa program has been keeping tabs on him for a while. The only probelm: Iowa State could steal him away.

Of the five finalists, Rivals predicts Iowa State to come out on top, giving them an 81 percent chance to land the four-star prospect.

Davis has elite potential, and Ben McCollum has to do everything he can to bring him to Iowa City in 2027.

During his junior season last year, Davis filled up the stat sheet, averaging 21.7 points on an impressive 70 percent shooting from the field, and adding 12.0 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game.

In an interview earlier this year, Davis told Rivals that his decision ultimately comes down to finding a coaching staff that trusts him and allows him to do what he does best.

Rivals ranks Davis as a four-star prospect, Wisconsin's No. 3 overall prospect, the No. 10 small forward prospect, and the No. 32 overall prospect in the 2027 recruiting class.
