The transfer portal is in full swing after opening for the spring transfer window. Iowa Football continues to rebuild its roster in preparation for the 2025-2026 season. The Hawkeyes have secured meetings with multiple prospects in the portal
That includes meeting with, and eventually signing, star Division II offensive lineman Bryce George and securing a meeting with quarterback Jeremy Hecklinski.
Iowa Head Coach Kirk Ferentz is adamant about not building the roster through the transfer portal, but multiple players have kept Iowa on their radar.
The portal has given Iowa talented players, and has also taken players away. The Hawkeyes have lost seven players to the portal in the early stages of spring football, including the 2024 starting quarterback, Brendan Sullivan.
On Friday, Iowa lost another defensive player to the portal.
Iowa freshman safety out of Iowa City High, Drew Larson has entered the transfer portal, per source.

Will be a steal for an FCS program. Very underrated prospect for the Little Hawks in the class of 2024. pic.twitter.com/ps6DfQOWWO
Iowa freshman safety Drew Larson announced he is entering the portal after not seeing any game action for the Hawkeyes.
The six-foot, 180-pound safety is a local kid from Iowa City, Iowa. Larson played all over the field for Iowa City High School, but was primarily a quarterback and wide receiver for the Little Hawks. He was originally recruited by Iowa and Iowa State, but chose to walk on at Iowa.
He was an unranked prospect in the 2024 recruiting class. Larson enters the transfer portal, hoping to play wide receiver or quarterback for a different program.
The Hawkeyes continue to lose depth on the defense. Iowa has already lost John Nestor (defensive back), Devan Van Ness (linebacker), and Kahlil Tate (defensive back) to the transfer portal.
