The Iowa quarterback room was a major question going into the 2025 offseason. During the 2024-2025 season, the Hawkeyes were plagued by inconsistent quarterback play, and the offense struggled.

Starter Cade McNamara was ineffective and was replaced by Brendan Sullivan after suffering another injury. Sullivan also sustained an injury, but was able to play in the 2024 TransPerfect Music City Bowl at the end of the season.

After the season, the Hawkeyes dipped into the transfer portal to bolster the quarterback room. Iowa added star quarterback Mark Gronowski from South Dakota State and Hank Brown from Auburn from the portal.

On Friday, it was reported that a three-star transfer quarterback has scheduled a visit with the Hawkeyes next week.

Wake Forest transfer Jeremy Hecklinski told On3 Sports' Blair Sanderson that he will meet with the Hawkeyes on Tuesday, April 22. Hecklinski only played three snaps for the Demon Deacons in the 2024-2025 season.

Hecklinski was one of the highest-rated quarterback prospects that Wake Forest has signed. During his senior season, he threw for 3,835 passing yards and 50 touchdowns, leading Walton High School to the state title game.

After the 2023 season, Hecklinski was named the 2023 GPB Georgia Offensive Player of the Year and First Team All-State.

Hecklinski followed in the footsteps of his father, Randy (Bowling Green), and uncle, Jeff (Illinois, Western Illinois), who both played quarterback at the collegiate level.

On3 Sports ranked Hecklinski as a three-star transfer and the No. 88 quarterback (No. 1108 overall) in the transfer portal. Before meeting with the Hawkeyes, Hecklinski has already received an offer from Bowling Green.
