The strength of the Iowa Women's Basketball program is in the character of people they recruit. The program is always active on the recruiting trail and attempts to sign the most talented prospects it can, but character always comes first.
Signing high-character players was a staple and a focus of former Head Coach Lisa Bluder, and has continued under Jan Jensen.
Everyone knows the big names like Caitlin Clark, Lucy Olsen, Kate Martin, Megan Gustafson, etc., but it is the nucleus of the team that drives the Hawkeyes toward success.
The women's basketball program prepares the players for success on the court, but also for life after basketball.
Multiple former Hawkeyes have joined the coaching ranks, including former Iowa assistant Tania Davis and graduate assistant Sydney Affolter, and now another former Hawkeye will attempt to be a successful coach.

Recent University of Iowa graduate and women's basketball player AJ Ediger is joining the staff at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee as a graduate assistant.
UW Milwaukee is a Division I program that plays basketball in the Horizon League Conference.
Ediger joined the Hawkeye program before the 2021-2022 season and played in 14 games during her first season.
Her minutes per game and games played increased every season before dipping during her final season with the emergence of freshman Ava Heiden.
During her four-year Iowa career, Ediger averaged 1.7 points and 1.0 rebounds per game.
Ediger will now attempt to guide the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Panthers to the same success she found with the Iowa Women's Basketball program.
