Former Iowa Women's Basketball guard Lucy Olsen is having a solid rookie campaign as a reserve player for the Washington Mystics.
The Mystics (12-12) are ranked No. 4 in the Eastern Conference and No. 7 overall in the WNBA, and are turning heads with how they have played this season.
Ahead of the 2025 season, the Mystics were in rebuild mode following a 14-26 2024 campaign. The Mystics had multiple high draft picks during the 2025 WNBA Draft, including the No. 3, 4, and 6 overall picks.
With those picks, the Mystics selected Sonia Citron (No. 3 overall), Kiki Iriafen (No. 4 overall), and Georgia Amoore (No. 6 overall. They also added Olsen with the No. 23 overall pick and Zaay Green with the No. 32 overall pick.
Amoore suffered a season-ending injury before the season, and Green was waived
As the season has progressed, Sonia Citron has cemented herself in the Rookie of the Year conversation, and Iriafen has been a force down low.
Olsen took a little longer to get acclimated to the WNBA, but has played a solid reserve role for the Mystics when she is given the opportunity.
After the 2025 WNBA season concludes, Olsen will head to the land down under to continue playing professional basketball during the WNBA offseason.
