A new member of Jan Jensen's squad was given a golden opportunity, and she has only been in Iowa City for a short time.
After the 2025-2026 season, there was significant uncertainty heading into the offseason, primarily about what the roster would look like. The program experienced the most turnover it's had in many years, losing nine players from last season. Four players graduated, including program staples Hannah Stuelke, Kylie Feuerbach, and Taylor McCabe, and five transferred.
With such a high roster turnover, Jensen and company had to act fast and found some solid options via the transfer portal. Now one of those options will represent Team USA.
Transfer Dani Carnegie will represent the USA on a 3x3 squad
Jensen and her staff added six new players to the roster, with four arriving via the transfer portal, including Dani Carnegie (Georgia), Jocelyn Faison (Georgia), Amari Whiting (Oklahoma State), and Bria Medina (Knox College).
With the roster set at 11 players, the squad will be without Carnegie for a chunk of the summer as she represents Team USA.

Carnegie, alongside new teammate Ava Heiden, was invited to a 3x3 developmental camp in Arizona, and her Team Arizona took home the 3X Showcase title. Carnegie's team consisted of Imari Berry (Louisville), Katie Fiso (Oregon), and Tori McKinney (Minnesota). After a stellar showing at the camp, Carnegie got the call to join the USA squad at the 2026 FIBA 3x3 Nations League tournament.
Carnegie's squad from the developmental camp, along with Sunaja "Nunu" Agara (Stanford) and McKinna Brackens (Arizona State), were the five players selected to the roster. The tournament takes place from June 27 through July 3 in Nunoa, Chile. Carnegie's selection isn't a surprise after she did a little bit of everything for the Georgia Bulldogs last season, showcasing her versatility.
She earned a First-Team All-SEC selection after averaging 17.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game for Georgia last season. As a member of the 3x3 squad, you are asked to do a little bit of everything, because with only three players on the court at a time, there isn't room for specialists. Carnegie gives the USA that, and her time with the national team will be extremely valuable for multiple reasons.
Carnegie will gain valuable playing experience with Team USA on a stage she hasn't typically competed on, and she can use that experience to lead Iowa next season. After the mass exodus from the roster, Iowa had no seniors on the squad; now they have multiple, including Carnegie. She can bring valuable knowledge and experience to a young squad that needs her to be a leader.
Her versatility on the perimeter will pair nicely with Chit-Chat Wright, Taylor Stremlow, and fellow newcomer Amari Whiting, and she will have even more knowledge and experience after competing for the USA on a national stage.
