Programs are locking in for a huge recruiting period, with the first official visit weekend happening this week.
Iowa has been diligently recruiting prospects in the 2027 class, and as the class continues to grow, there is still much work to be done. This weekend gives the program a great opportunity to convince some of its top prospects to commit, with four who have been at the top of Iowa's priority list.
Barrett Kittrell, interior offensive line (Ashland, NE)
The Hawkeyes have made a good impression on Barrett Kittrell, a Nebraska legacy prospect, enough to earn an official visit from the talented OL prospect this weekend. Kittrell's dad played football for the Cornhuskers, and his older brother, Bo, is currently on the roster.
Kittrell has the size that Iowa loves to recruit (six-foot-four, 270 pounds), and the program has a good chance to convince him to head north. He is projected to go to either Iowa or Nebraska, and with a good visit, Iowa could earn a big recruiting win over a rival.
Caleb Johnson, offensive tackle (Noblesville, IN)
Caleb Johnson has a similar name to former Hawkeye star running back Kaleb Johnson, and he has been on Iowa's radar for some time. After visiting the program on junior day in January, the highly touted four-star prospect will officially visit this weekend during official visit weekend.
Johnson locked in his official visit at the end of February and is near the top of Iowa's priority list. He is a versatile offensive lineman who can play inside at tackle or outside at guard, which gives the offensive line a ton of flexibility.
Shortly after announcing his OV, Rivals projected him to land with the Hawkeyes, and a solid visit this weekend would go a long way to making that projection a reality.
Kyler Kuhn, interior offensive lineman (Kansas City, MO)
The weekend is shaping up as a big recruiting weekend for George Barrett and the offensive line, and one of the top targets to watch is offensive lineman Kyler Kuhn. Kuhn has visited the program five times already and has listed Iowa as one of his final five destinations.
Iowa has been in a dead-heat with Nebraska and Missouri for the talented offensive lineman, who is ranked as a consensus four-star prospect by 247Sports, ESPN, and Rivals. The program has been very active in Kuhn's recruitment, but is behind in total visits to Missouri (11) and Nebraska (7).
The Iowa program is elite at developing offensive linemen, and adding someone of Kuhn's talent and beating out a hated rival would be two big wins for the Hawkeyes. The stakes will be extremely high this weekend during Kuhn's visit, and they need to lean on their OL development and program history to lure him to Iowa City.
Brady Scott, defensive back/wide receiver (Reading, MA)
Breaking away from the offensive lineman trend, Brady Scott is an interesting two-way prospect that the Hawkeyes have kept tabs on for quite some time. Scott visited campus during Iowa's comeback against Michigan State last season and again in December, calling the visit impactful.
Scott is a track star with blazing speed, and the program has been aggressively attempting to add him to the defensive secondary. With his speed, he could also be a key contributor on special teams as well.
He has multiple official visits scheduled over the next two weeks, and the Hawkeyes are in a two-way race with Indiana for his services.
