Over the past few weeks, the Iowa Football coaching staff has been working hard to fill roster gaps by heavily recruiting for the 2026 class.
They have made offers to Samson Gash (wide receiver) and Aaden Aytch (defensive line) and are scheduling a meeting with three-star linebacker prospect Braylon Hodge.
The Hawkeyes have already secured the commitments of nine players for the 2026 class, all of whom play on the offensive side of the football. On May 24, the Hawkeyes made an offer to a 2026 linebacker prospect and scheduled a meeting with him the next day.
Bill Weivoda, a three-star prospect from Alpharetta, Georgia, received an offer from the Hawkeyes on May 24 and scheduled a meeting with the program on May 25. 247 Sports' Eliot Clough initially reported the news.
Weivoda is listed at six-foot-two, 210 pounds, and plays linebacker for Milton High School in Alpharetta. He effectively uses his speed and athleticism to sack the quarterback and can play in the middle of the defense or on the outside
He has also showcased his defensive moves in pursuit of the quarterback and could be moved to an exterior defensive line position.
Weivoda was heavily recruited by Assistant Defensive Coordinator and Linebackers Coach Seth Wallace, implying they like his skillset for the linebacker position.
Weivoda has received multiple offers, but the Hawkeyes are only the second Power Four conference program to make an offer to him. Virginia Tech is the other.
247 Sports has ranked Weivoda as the No. 56 linebacker prospect (No. 718 overall) in the 2026 recruiting class.
