The Iowa running back and receiving room has already been struck by injuries, and unfortunately for both groups, that trend continued on Friday night.
Iowa entered the game without running backs Xavier Williams and Brevin Doll, and wide receivers Jarriett Buie and Reece Vander Zee.
Vander Zee suffered a foot injury during practice before Iowa's Week One game against Albany, and Buie has dealt with multiple soft tissues injuries, and has not taken the field.
Williams went out with an injury during Iowa's win over UMass, and Doll has dealt with multiple injuries that have kept him out.
After Friday night's game against Rutgers, two Iowa offensive players went out with ankle injuries and were unable to return.
Seth Anderson, wide receiver

After a slow start to the season, mainly due to the inconsistencies in the passing game, veteran wide receiver Seth Anderson caught two touchdown passes from Mark Gronowski during Iowa's win over UMass.
Anderson finally looked like he was ready to break out after suffering multiple injuries during his time with Iowa, but the injury bug bit once again.
After an Iowa offensive drive, Anderson went into the blue medical tent with what is believed to be an ankle injury.
Head Coach Kirk Ferentz was not too worried about his injury, but will know more early net week.
Jaziun Patterson, running back

After leading the Iowa backfield in a week two loss against Iowa State in Ames, Jaziun Patterson is the latest running back to go down with an injury.
Iowa was already without Xavier Williams and Brevin Doll for this contest against Rutgers, and starting running back Kamari Moulton just returned for this game.
Patterson left the game early with an ankle injury, and did not return.
In his postgame press conference, Kirk Ferentz stated that he is not too worried about Patterson's injury, and similar to Anderson's injury, they will not know until they return home for more evaluation.
If Patterson is sideline for multiple weeks, the Hawkeyes will need freshman Nathan McNeil to step up or Brevin Doll to return from injury quickly.
