Iowa is still picking up the pieces from last season after the roster numbers dwindled, and Jan Jensen and company got some bad news from the recruiting trail.
The Hawkeyes are down to six players with nine roster spots open, and have been ramping up recruiting efforts to fill those vacancies.
The program has not been active in the transfer portal yet, having lost five players and not signed anyone, but they did schedule three visits this weekend.
Unfortunately for Jensen and the program, one of the transfers they were pursuing has decided not to go to Iowa City.
Lindenwood transfer Ellie Brueggemann won't visit Iowa City
Iowa desperately needs guard help next season, and attempted to fill that void by inviting three guard transfers to visit this weekend.
That number now sits at two after sharpshooting transfer Ellie Brueggemann canceled her upcoming visit.
Lindenwood transfer Ellie Brueggemann will no longer be in Iowa City this weekend. Would assume this means she's closing in on a decision. https://t.co/4UhamjQhL7

According to On3 Sports women's basketball analyst Kyle Huesmann, Brueggemann will no longer be in Iowa City this weekend.
Brueggemann will also not be taking a visit to rival Nebraska.
Brueggemann checked all the boxes for the Iowa program; a high-volume shooter who finished last season shooting 49 percent from the field and 44 percent from beyond the arc.
She also would have brought a veteran presence to the locker room and on the court, but it looks like a different program has a better offer.
While Brueggemann turning the Hawkeyes down stings, there is no shortage of options in the transfer portal, and the program still has two visits locked in with transfers Amari Whiting (Oklahoma State) and Dani Carnegie.
The transfer portal chaos continues!
