Let Abdul Hodge cook!

The former Hawkeye star linebacker-turned-coach has been cooking on the recruiting trail, helping the program bring in some of the best tight-end prospects.

Hodge knows what it takes to be successful at the University of Iowa as a former team captain and First-Team All-Big Ten selection, and he is now helping the program by recruiting and developing tight ends.

Hodge joined the coaching staff in 2022 and has been critical to the development of multiple elite tight ends, including Sam LaPorta, Luke Lachey, and DJ Vonnahme.

He now has the chance to develop into one of the nation's best tight end prospects if the program can keep him in-state.

Jevyn Severson has all the tools to become the next great Iowa tight end

You wouldn't think a town of just under 3,000 people would hold one of the nation's best tight end prospects, but that is exactly the case.

Madrid, Iowa, home to 2,824 people, is home to the current No. 1 prospect in the state of Iowa in the 2028 recruiting class, and he has star potential written all over him.

According to Rivals' industry ranking, highly coveted tight end prospect Jevyn Severson is a four-star prospect, Iowa's No. 1 overall prospect, the No. 2 overall tight end prospect, and the No. 66 overall prospect in the 2028 class.

After Iowa offered him, Severson is now up to 31 college offers, with many of them being from the top programs in the country, and for good reason.

Severson is extremely athletic for his size and has great hands, high-pointing almost every pass and catching everything thrown near him.

He is also a capable blocker and is comfortable getting out in space to be a lead blocker.

Severson is everything the Hawkeye football program looks for in a tight end, and they need to do everything they can to get him to Iowa City in 2028.
