The phrase "Tight End U" has been regularly used to describe the University of Iowa after all the prospects they have sent to the NFL over the years. George Kittle, T.J. Hockenson, Noah Fant, and Sam LaPorta are some of the notable players Iowa has sent to the league.

Luke Lachey hopes to be the next in a long line of successful tight ends to come out of the University of Iowa football program. He has great size and skill and has the benefit of having his dad Jim Lachey, a former 10-year NFL veteran, in his corner.

Lachey opted out of running the 40-yard dash, similar to fellow former Hawkeye Jermari Harris earlier in the day, but excelled at on-field drills. He looked good in all pass -catching drills, including the gauntlet, over -the-shoulder drill and curl route drill.

His pre-NFL draft profile coming into the NFL Combine was that he has great ability as a pass catcher due to his hands. He showed that on Friday afternoon, making several catches outside his body and making it look easy.

Lachey has all the tools, but will need to improve on his separation from defenders and his blocking abilities in order to succeed at the next level.
