The Iowa Football program continues to add depth from the transfer portal for the 2025-2026 season. Head Coach Kirk Ferentz is adamant about building from within, but the Hawkeyes continue to add pieces from the portal.

During the spring transfer portal window, the Hawkeyes added four transfers, including offensive lineman Bryce George (Ferris State), quarterback Jeremy Hecklinski (Wake Forest), defensive back Shahid Barros (South Dakota), and safety Ty Hudkins.

On Thursday, Iowa dipped into the portal again, adding an offensive lineman from rival Iowa State.

Offensive lineman George Nahas announced on X that he is committing to the Hawkeyes after entering the transfer portal.

Before committing to the Cyclones in 2023, Nahas had offers from Air Force, Army, Fordham, and Southern Illinois. He chose to stay close to home and became a preferred walk-on for the Cyclones.

After two seasons with Iowa State, Nahas entered the portal and made the two-hour trip East to Iowa City.

Nahas, a six-foot-four, 295-pound offensive lineman, was unranked out of Dowling Catholic High School in Des Moines, Iowa.

Nahas became the second offensive lineman to transfer to Iowa, following Bryce George. After not receiving an offensive or special-teams snap at Iowa State, Nahas will attempt to carve out a larger role with the Hawkeyes.

During his 27-year career at the helm of the Hawkeyes, Kirk Ferentz has excelled at developing offensive linemen and getting the most out of them. Nahas might not immediately impact the squad, but he has long-term upside with three years of remaining eligibility.
