After switching from the defensive to the offensive line and being tasked with replacing former Hawkeye legend Tyler Linderbaum, center Logan Jones has carved out a unique path of his own.
Jones achieved nearly every possible milestone a player can in college football, winning the Rimington Trophy (best center in college football), earning All-American status, and earning All-Big Ten First-Team honors.
The Chicago Bears took him in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft, and even though a lot of people didn't love the pick, the Bears did.
The Bears' love affair with Logan Jones began during the pre-draft process
There was little doubt in the minds of the Bears' front office that Jones was their guy, and head coach Ben Johnson raved about him after making the selection.
Ben Johnson said the Bears were "smitten" with Iowa center Logan Jones throughout the pre-draft process.

Johnson: "We felt convicted as a staff, coaching staff and personnel side, that he was our guy. The mental is top notch. We saw all the traits we’re looking for, whether it’s…
According to ESPN's Courtney Cronin, Johnson and the Bears were "smitten" with Jones and had nothing but high praise for his traits and mental approach.
Johnson stated that he and the staff were convinced that Jones was their guy, and his mental approach to the game and football IQ are top-notch.
He also stated that they are no doubt that Jones will quickly pick up the information, and said they will have a "high-level" competition at the center spot.
The Bears acquired center Garrett Bradbury via a trade over the offseason, but with him currently on a one-year deal, it will be interesting to see how they handle the starting center position.
According to Johnson, there will be a competition next season, and it is not out of the question that Jones could start as a rookie.
Jones has all the tools to push for the starting gig next season, and he fits what the Bears want to do long-term.
