Ahead of the 2025-2026 college basketball season, new Iowa Men's Basketball Head Coach Ben McCollum and his staff are focusing on recruitment for the 2026 class.

The Hawkeye program hit a home run when they added the commitment of four-star prospect Trey Thompson in the 2026 class, but he reclassified to the 2025 class so he could join this season.

After Thompson reclassified, the Hawkeyes do not have any commitments for the 2026 class, and have been heavily focusing on building up the class.

Over the past few months, Iowa has made offers to four-star prospects Javonte Floyd (Georgia), Carlos Medlock Jr. (Missouri), and three-star prospect Quentin Coleman (Missouri).

The Hawkeyes missed out on Medlock Jr. after he committed to Michigan State, but Coleman recently released his list of his top six destinations, with Iowa making the final group.

According to 247 National Basketball Director Eric Bossi, Coleman has narrowed his choices to six, with the Hawkeyes making the list.

Bossi noted that Coleman has been one of the biggest risers of the summer and is becoming a breakout star.

The Hawkeyes will have to compete with fellow Big Ten program Illinois for Coleman's services, but he would be a solid addition to the program.

According to a scouting report by Sports Illustrated, Coleman is a talented ball handler who is a knockdown shooter from three-point range and midrange.

The knock on Coleman is his size (six-foot-three, 170 pounds) for the shooting guard position, which could hamper him on the defensive end and scoring in the paint.

However, he is a smart offensive playmaker and shooter, and if he adds some size, he could slide into either guard position and be effective.

247 Sports has ranked Coleman as a three-star prospect, Missouri's No. 8 prospect, and the No. 25 shooting guard prospect. They do not have him ranked nationally, but their composite ranking has him as the No. 165 overall player for the 2026 recruiting class.

Rivals has ranked Coleman as a three-star prospect, Missouri's No. 4 prospect, the No. 19 shooting guard prospect, and the No. 78 overall prospect in the 2026 recruiting class.
