It's been a whirlwind few months for former Hawkeye Kaden Wetjen, and it still doesn't feel real to him.

Just a few months ago, Wetjen was helping Iowa beat Vanderbilt in the ReliaQuest Bowl as he wrapped up his final collegiate season. After some senior showcases, Wetjen awaited his professional fate at the 2026 NFL Draft, and he was selected higher than most projections had. The Pittsburgh Steelers took a chance on the Iowa speedster, selecting him No. 121 overall in the fourth round, but even now, it doesn't feel real.

Wetjen admitted it still 'doesn't feel real' playing with Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers

Wetjen has always been extremely friendly towards the media and has often said funny things that makes everyone laugh, and he continued that with a funny quip about playing with Aaron Rodgers virtually, to now playing with him in real life.

After a charity golf event, Wetjen spoke to reporters about his "craziest" moment since joining the Steelers, and in typical Wetjen fashion, he joked about playing with Aaron Rodgers in a video game to now playing with him in real life. He admitted he remembers playing as Aaron Rodgers in Madden 2010 on the Wii, and now he is in the huddle with him. Wetjen has the unique opportunity to play with the future Hall of Famer after he rejoined the Steelers, and he is still taking it all in.

Rodgers' career hit a major bump when he tore his Achilles during the first game of his first season with the New York Jets, and after two uninspiring seasons in New York, he moved on to Pittsburgh. Following one season in Pittsburgh, he was a free agent once again and ultimately decided to return late in free agency. Now that he's back under center, Wetjen can't believe his luck.

Rodgers is the perfect signal caller to help Wetjen in his rookie year

Wetjen found himself in the perfect situation with a chance to make an immediate impact in his rookie season, and now he gets to learn from one of the best ever to do it. While Wetjen is projected to primarily play on special teams, he has been diligently working to carve out a role on offense. If he establishes a solid relationship with Rodgers, it can help him in multiple ways. Anything Wetjen provides on offense will be a bonus after all he brings to special teams, and Rodgers is elite at putting players in the right spots to succeed.

Wetjen and the Pittsburgh offense might only get one more season of Rodgers under center, and they must take advantage of it. Last season, the unit had only one go-to receiver in DJ Metcalf and heavily relied on the running game. The offense is desperately looking to flip the script this season, and Wetjen can help in that area. While he likely won't be near the top of the depth chart, his elite speed will come into play in certain offensive packages.

Wetjen is in a perfect situation as rookie and he must soak up everything he can from Rodgers in what is likely his last professional season.
