Stop me if you have heard this before: Kaden Wetjen was dynamic on special teams in a Hawkeye win.
The Hawkeyes now sit at 6-2 (4-1 Big Ten) after a dominating display in all three phases of the game against Minnesota.
The Hawkeyes started with a five-minute offensive drive, capped by a Mark Gronowski rushing touchdown to get the scoring started early.
After scoring a touchdown on the opening drive of the game, Iowa never looked back, putting up 41 points on the scoreboard while allowing only three.
Iowa scored touchdowns on offense, defense, and special teams as they finished off Minnesota at home.
Wide receiver and return specialist Kaden Wetjen was effective on both offense (three receptions, 49 yards) and special teams, including ANOTHER punt return for a touchdown.
Wetjen is making a habit of scoring on special teams, and has already been named the Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week two times. After this weekend's performance, it will probably be the third time.
When Wetjen does well, the Hawkeyes do well, and his latest performance still has Hawkeye fans cheering.
During his postgame media availability (posted by "The Hawkeye Report"), Wetjen spoke at length about his punt return touchdown and how the offense has emphasized playing with a lead.
In a candid moment with reporters, Wetjen stated that he did not know he was going to field the punt until it was in his hands and he said "screw it."
Wetjen was also very appreciative of "No. 32," who threw a huge block for him at the end of the run that was later revealed to be freshman KJ Parker.
Wetjen was also extremely excited that the offense got the scoring going early and stated that playing with the lead has been an emphasis for the offense all season.
The tape will be fun to watch for the Hawkeyes this week as they head into their second bye week next weekend.
