There is nothing better than dominating a rival at home, and capturing a trophy to celebrate (except maybe Mark Gronowski's new stache).
The Hawkeyes were clicking in all three phases of the game, scoring touchdowns on special teams, defense, and offense as they put Minnesota away at halftime.
In game No. 119 in the storied rivalry between Iowa and Minnesota, Iowa elected to receive the ball first, and it pad immediate dividends.
The Iowa offense went straight down the field and scored on a nine-play, five-minute drive that included a conversion on 3rd and 11, and was capped off by another Mark Gronowski rushing touchdown.
After Iowa scored on the opening drive, the defense forced two punts and a pick-six by defensive back Zach Lutmer to increase the Iowa lead to 17-0.
Iowa quickly put the game out of reach in the second quarter when Gronowski found Reece Vander Zee in the back corner of the end zone for a touchdown, and the Hawkeyes coasted from there.
After the 41-3 domination of Minnesota, Gronowski was happy with the way the offense is playing, but acknowledged they are still hungry for more.
During a portion of his postgame interview (posted by "247Sports"), Gronowski was adamant that the offense felt confident going into this game.
The offense finished the game with 274 total yards of offense, and averaged 4.9 yards per play.
Even though the offense was clicking in both the running and passing games, Gronowski stated that the unit is still hungry to improve.
The win over Minnesota was a great sign, and everyone is having a lot of fun, but they still want to improve as a unit.
Gronowski has been part of many winning teams in the past and acknowledged that this team feels like one of them. He also admitted that they wanted to reach a good level in September, and be playing their best football in October.
As Iowa heads into its second bye week next weekend, Gronowski is sure they have everything they want to do in front of them, and they have to execute and get the job done.
