The Iowa Hawkeyes Men's Basketball program is experiencing massive turnover after firing Head Coach Fran McCaffery last week. Iowa has seen four players enter the transfer portal, and have lost one prized recruit.

Hawkeye players Owen Freeman, Brock Harding, Pryce Sandfort, and Riley Mulvey have already entered the portal, and the program also lost four-star commit Joshua Lewis after he decided to decommit from Iowa.

Iowa continues to pick up the pieces after Fran McCaffery's firing, and the situation worsened on Wednesday.

Iowa guard Josh Dix announced the move on Wednesday. He cited the recent coaching change as the reason he is entering the transfer portal.

Dix had to overcome a gruesome leg injury he suffered in January 2021 of his senior year in high school before joining the Hawkeyes. Iowa stuck with him after the injury, and he played in 31 games off the bench in his freshman year.

Dix was a prolific scorer from the minute he arrived in Iowa City. He tallied 826 points in his three years with the Hawkeyes.

The Council Bluffs, Iowa native was a dominating and effective scorer for the Hawkeyes this past season. Dix had career-high averages in stats across the board this season. He averaged 14.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game.

Dix turned himself into one of the most efficient scorers in the league, shooting 50.7 percent from the field and 42.2 percent from three-point range this past season.

The Hawkeyes have now lost all of their starting five players and their sixth man from last year's team. The mass exodus from Iowa City is underway, and I would not be surprised if it continues until a new head coach is hired.
