Iowa Men's Basketball forward Riley Mulvey is the latest casualty of Head Coach Fran McCaffery's firing. Mulvey decided to enter the transfer portal early Tuesday morning.

Mulvey joins fellow former Hawkeyes Owen Freeman, Brock Harding, and Pryce Sandfort, who have already entered the transfer portal after McCaffery's departure.

In a post on X, Mulvey thanked his coaches, teammates, and fans for the past four seasons in Iowa City. He is appreciative of the love and support they showed him and will enter the transfer portal after completing his degree at the Univeristy of Iowa.

Mulvey was a fourth-year junior at Iowa and is originally from Rotterdam, New York. Mulvey began his career with the Hawkeyes in 2021 and redshirted in 2023 after playing sparingly.

Mulvey rejoined the Hawkeyes as a redshirt junior this past season. He again played sparingly at the beginning of the season, but saw a more expanded role after star forward Owen Freeman had season-ending surgery in February.

Mulvey had two starts for Iowa down the stretch after Freeman went down. He put up 2.2 points and 1.9 rebounds per game this season in 19 games.

Mulvey achieved a career-high 15 minutes in a win over the Washington Huskies on February 22. He scored nine points in the win.

The Iowa Hawkeyes have lost another depth piece to the portal after Fran McCaffery was let go. Iowa must continue to pick up the pieces after the 15-year head coach was fired. Iowa is still in the process of hiring a new head coach.
