During the offseason, the Iowa Women's Basketball program is searching for future talent. The Hawkeyes finished the 2024-2025 season with a 23-11 (10-8 Big Ten) record in Head Coach Jan Jensen's first season.

The Hawkeyes added a talented 2025 recruiting class, including five-star prospect Addie Deal, and four-star prospects Journey Houston and Layla Hays.

The program also added transfers Chazadi "Chit-Chat" Wright and Emely Rodriguez to the roster for the upcoming season.

The Hawkeyes have also contacted multiple future prospects, including Ivanna Wilson Manyacka, the No. 2-ranked player in the 2027 recruiting class.

Over the weekend, the program secured a meeting with a 2026 four-star forward prospect.

The Hawkeyes set a meeting with four-star forward prospect GiGi Battle from September 11 to 14

ESPN and 247 Sports rank Battle as a four-star prospect, with 247 Sports ranking her the No. 5 Florida prospect and the No. 47 overall prospect.

Before heading to DME Academy in Florida, Battle played for Rutgers Prep in Somerset, New Jersey. During the 2022-2023 season, she averaged 9.9 points, 5.7 assists, and 1.5 rebounds in 30 games.

In her only season with DME Academy (2024-2025), Battle averaged 16.3 points, 7.6 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.8 steals per game in 30 games.

Brandon Clay, the Director of Women's Basketball Scouting for 247 Sports, evaluated Battle's performances and style of play over the past few seasons. He concluded that Battle is a capable shooter who can fill it up from the outside or drive to the basket.

He also noted Battle's skillset fits the modern style, but she does not mind going into the paint and scoring baskets or grabbing rebounds.

The Hawkeyes secured a meeting with Battle, but she has also scheduled meetings with Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio State, Rutgers, and Stanford.

Head Coach Jan Jensen and the Iowa program aim to wow Battle during their meeting and secure her commitment for the 2026 season.
