After Iowa Baseball finished its season less than a week ago, the Hawkeyes are making headlines, but not for good reasons. The Iowa season ended on May 24 after a 9-3 loss to the UCLA Bruins in the semifinals of the Big Ten Tournament and multiple players have begun to leave the program.
The transfer portal does not officially open until June 2, but three Iowa players have already entered. Pitchers Sam Hunt, Anthony Watts, and utility man Andrew Holub are the first players to enter the portal.
On Friday, Iowa Baseball lost a key piece to their 2025 squad to the transfer portal.
I will be entering the transfer portal from the University of Iowa.

Redshirt sophomore catcher/DH Reese Moore is entering the transfer portal after three seasons with the program.
After redshirting his freshman season (2023), Moore was a breakout star for the Hawkeyes. During his first full season with the Hawkeyes (2024), Moore appeared in 51 games (49 starts). He batted .287 with 32 runs batted in and stole four bases.
After the 2024 season, Moore was named All-Big Ten Third Team and All-Big Ten Freshman Team selections.
His breakout season came last year as a redshirt sophomore. After a solid freshman season, Moore took a big step forward last season. He batted .308 with nine home runs and 45 runs batted in 56 appearances. He also tallied 17 multi-hit games for the Hawkeyes last season.
After the 2025 season, Moore was named an All-Big Ten First Team selection alongside Cade Obermueller and Aaron Savary.
Losing Moore is a big blow to the Hawkeyes' offense and pitching staff, and they will look to replace his production before next season.
