The Iowa program has a knack for spotting hidden gems on the recruiting trail, and they are quick to make an offer if a prospect looks like a potential fit.
Iowa's uncanny habit of taking under-recruited or low-ranked prospects and turning them into stars is well-documented, as evidenced by seven players being selected in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Iowa's development is world-class, and while not every prospect always works out, Kirk Ferentz and company get the benefit of the doubt.
The program especially excels at recruiting and developing in-state stars, and they have another chance to do so after offering an unranked linebacker prospect.
Kyler Van Maanen unique comob of size and speed could be a huge asset
Iowa's linebackers room has traditionally been a strength of the program, and in an effort to continue that, linebackers coach Seth Wallace and the program recently offered a unique 2027 linebacker prospect.
After a great conversation with @CoachSWallace I am honored to announce that I’ve received an offer from @HawkeyeFootball@Coach_Niemann @TylerBarnesIOWA @Spauldingiowa @BlairASanderson @AllenTrieu @D1Apex @PrepRedzoneIA @PellaDutchFB pic.twitter.com/hwlK9Lnsy1

The Hawkeyes don't throw around offers to players just to fill the roster. If a player receives an offer from the program, it is for a reason, and that is exactly the case for Pella High School standout Kyler Van Maanen.
Van Maanen had a productive junior season for the Pella Dutch football team last year, racking up an impressive 92.5 total tackles, including 23.5 tackles for loss.
He played mostly inside linebacker for Pella last season, showcasing his elite speed and ability to get downhill quickly to stop the run.
He is extremely quick when he breaks to the ball, and once he wraps someone up, they aren't getting away.
Van Maanen looks the part, and his speed is a huge asset. Although he is currently unranked, that could easily change before he makes his final college decision.
