The 2025 Joe Moore Award-winning unit just got some reinforcement.
The Hawkeyes lost some major offensive line talent after the 2024-2025 season, but the unit did not skip a beat.
After Mason Richmann and Connor Colby headed to the NFL Draft, it was feared that the offensive line would take a step back this season. That could not be further from the truth.
First-year starters Kade Pieper and Trevor Lauck started all 13 games for the offensive line and became key members of the unit that earned the award for the best unit in college football.
After the season wrapped up, the offensive line is losing Beau Stephens, Gennings Dunker, and consensus All-American Logan Jones, and will need to plug some of those holes in the offensive line.
Even with starters Lauck and Pieper returning, and key reserves Jack Dotzler, Michael Myslinski, and Leighton Jones projected for an expanded role, the offensive line could use some more depth next season.
The offensive line has not been a focal point of Iowa's transfer portal strategy, but on Tuesday, it received a commitment from a talented interior offensive lineman at James Madison University.

Iowa has landed the commitment of James Madison transfer OL, Trent Wilson. He played in 11 games for the Dukes this fall, helping them to finish as the sixth-best rushing offense in the country. https://t.co/E5yOkBg1hB
According to 247Sports' Eliot Clough, James Madison transfer offensive lineman Trent Wilson has committed to the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Wilson did not start for the Dukes this season, but played a key reserve role for the offensive unit this season.
During the 2025 season, Wilson played 382 total snaps at left and right guard for an offensive line that helped pave the way for a solid Dukes' rushing attack.
James Madison had the sixth-best rushing attack in college football this season.
Versatility is the name of the game for the Iowa offensive line
The Iowa Football program LOVES versatile offensive linemen, and Wilson fits that profile.
He can play on either side of the offensive line, and has the size (six-foot-five, 300 pounds) and versatility that the program is looking for.
He will compete for snaps this season and will most likely play a key reserve role this season, but he should be a factor for the Hawkeyes for the next three seasons.
