The Hawkeyes entered a weekend series against a tough No. 10 Oregon State squad. The Hawkeyes and Beavers traveled to Principal Park in Des Moines, Iowa for a three-game weekend series.
In game one, multiple pitching miscues nixed the Hawkeyes' chances of an upset. Iowa pitchers gave up a combined nine runs (five earned), walked six, hit one batter, and threw one wild pitch in a 9-6 Iowa loss.
In game two, cold bats and more pitching struggles led to a series loss for the Hawkeyes. As a team, Iowa batted .152 and struck out 16 times. They also left eight runners on base.
Iowa pitchers combined for five runs (five earned) and walked rs. They also hit three batters in the 5-1 loss.
Game three ended strangely. The Hawkeyes led the game 3-0 after the first two innings, but a huge fifth inning grand slam gave the Beavers a 5-3 lead. The Hawkeyes would scrape across two more runs, and the game headed into extra innings tied a 5-5.
After each team scored a run in the tenth inning, the game was called because Oregon State had "travel conflicts."
This was Manager Rick Heller's first tie since 2002, in a game against Iowa when he was Northern Iowa's manager.
Three Hawkeye women earn Gold in Mexico

Three Iowa Women's Wrestlers traveled to Monterrey, Mexico, for the 2025 Pan-Am Championships. The Championships give wrestlers from North America, South America, Central America, and the Caribbean a chance to compete for medals in freestyle wrestling.
The Hawkeyes sent three wrestlers to the Championships, and they all left with gold medals.
Kennedy Blades (68 kg) dominated in her four matches on the way to the gold medal. She outscored her opponents 41-8, including a 10-0 major decision in the third round against Virginia Jimenez (Chile).
Macey Kilty (65 kg) ran through her competition, outscoring her opponents 22-2. She pinned her opponent in the second match and dominated her finals opponent, Miki Rowbottom (Canada), 10-0 with a technical fall.
Kylie Walker (76 kg) made it three for three after earning another gold medal for the United States and the Hawkeyes. She only surrendered three points in three matches and dominated Thamires Martins Machado (Brazil) 8-1 in the final match.
