Iowa Baseball aimed to get back on track in the second game of a three-game weekend series against the No. 10 Oregon State Beavers. In game one on Friday night, pitching miscues doomed the Hawkeyes.

Hawkeye pitchers combined for six walks, one wild pitch, one hit batter, and three errors in the 9-6 loss.

On Saturday, the Hawkeyes faced a must-win game to even the series before the rubber match on Sunday.

Aaron Savary entered Saturday's game with an undefeated 7-0 record, and looked to push that to 8-0 with a win. He pitched three scoreless innings before it all unraveled in the fourth.

In the top of the fourth inning, the Beavers plated four runs to take a 4-0 lead. Iowa would add one run on a Caleb Wulf run-scoring double, but that is the only run the offense would manage. Oregon State added another run in the top of the seventh inning and won the game 5-1.

The Iowa bats were ice cold, striking out 16 times and leaving eight runners on base. The Hawkeyes had a .152 batting average and were out-hit 5-6.

Hawkeye pitchers also struggled with command for the second straight night. Three Hawkeye pitchers combined for five runs (five earned) and walked five batters. They also hit three Beavers batters.

After dropping the first two games and losing the series, the Hawkeyes will try to head home with a victory in game three on Sunday. Game three starts at 12:05 p.m. Central Time from Principal Park.
